Bears Against Drugs is a Safety Program sponsored by the NCTA.  The program includes education about Stranger Danger, Seat Belt and Air Bag Safety, Respect, Discipline, Drug and Alcohol Abuse, and  much, much more.

The coordinator for the Bears Against Drugs Campaign is Billy Ward.    The coordinator is available to make presentations to school age children, civic groups, daycare facilities, churches, etc...  Educational and other materials are available through the coordinator for these presentations.

 

Below is an overview of the B.A.D. Program.  Any and all aspects or subject matter  of the outline are subject to change at any time at the will of the coordinator/instructor.

I. BEARS AGAINST DRUGS SAFETY PROGRAM Pre-K thru 5th Grade

    4. Never give up /positivism
    5. A purpose to be served.

II. Conclusion

  1. A Poem entitled "In Control"
  2. Students receive coloring books, stranger danger information, bear stickers, badges, shoe strings, child I.D., rulers, car seat stickers.

 


BIO for WILLIAM MONROE WARD

William Monroe Ward is a 1967 graduate of Clarkton High School.  Just to name a few, he attended James Sprunt Technical College, where he received his Associate of Applied Science Degree in 1980 from James Sprunt Technical College. He attended Bladen Community College and Sampson Community College, and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Fayetteville State University in 1982. Mr. Ward received his Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of South Carolina  in 1984.

All of his studies have been centered around the criminal justice system. Throughout his studies, he was an honor student and was selected for Who’s Who in American Junior College. He has earned several awards; a Political Science Award and Top Cop Award in Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET). Mr. Ward is  a member of Alpha Phi Sigma.

Mr. Ward  has served in several capacities of law enforcement;  NC State Trooper (1971-1978), Part-time Instructor at James Sprunt Technical College (1984-1985), Law Enforcement Director/Instructor at Bladen Community College (1985-1986), Chairman of the Criminal Justice Department at Sampson Community College (1986-1993), and is presently serving as the Public Relations Officer with the NC Troopers Association.

Mr. Ward  is the father of five children, Billy II, Kris, Michael, Brandon, and Allison. He is better known  to all as "Billy".
