Our condolences go our to Trooper Steve Allred and Family of Jackson County who lost their daughter Karla Allred.
Karla Elizabeth Allred, age 14, died on Sunday, December 27, 2009, at her residence after a battle with cancer.
Karla was currently in the eighth grade at Scotts Creek Elementary School where she was a New Century Scholar. As a student, she was very organized and always prepared. She loved to play softball, basketball, and shop with her family, especially teaching her Dad how to shop online. Karla was very mild-mannered but would stand up for what was right and speak her mind.
She is survived by her parents, Stephen and Annette Sigmon Allred; two brothers, Kyle Douglas and Kevin Scott Allred; maternal grandmother, Ann Sigmon; maternal grandfather, John D. Sigmon and his wife, Karen, and paternal grandparents, Jerry and Carolyn Allred.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 31, 2009, at the auditorium of Southwestern Community College with the Reverend Paul Christy officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Sylva. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
Memorials may be made to Missions Reuter Children's Outpatient Center, 11 Vanderbilt Park Drive, Asheville, NC 28803 or to West Care Hospice, 132 Sylva Plaza, Sylva, NC 28779.
